These actually really suck when tension is in the along-the-ankle/wrist/neck direction because the slide may be pushed into the skin a little. They're great for straight-away tension (what do you call that direction??).
All parts are from McMaster-Carr:
Heavy Duty Hook-and-Loop Cinching Straps
- These are quite thick (.19"), and made with industrial strength hook-and-loop (the hooks are much longer and grippier than on standard velcro): a patch of hook on the ends, and the loop wrapped around from the adhesion surface all the way around to the back-- for comfortable padding; metal hardware is nickel-plated steel. Widths: 1" and 2". Lengths: 12", 18", 24", 36", 48". Pic notwithstanding, the hook ends are not tapered; you might want to trim them yourself.

Basic instructions:
The rabbit comes out of the hole, goes around thetreeD, and back in the (other) hole. The hardware configuration is such that only the comfy fuzzy parts actually touch the body, if there's no tension on the D, or tension in the away-from-the-body direction. These actually really suck for pulling in the along-the-ankle/wrist/neck direction because the slide will be pushed into the skin a little. The rings will not shift during use (especially when straps are under any tension), but obviously are repositionable. (E.g. in order to use a collar on an upper arm, shifting one ring down a bit-- or removing it-- would allow the thing to be cinched tighter.)

1" collar with a D or two (made from strap of nominal length 18") fits neck sizes about 14.5" and down. (Straps are available in these overall/nonimal pre-hardware opened-up lengths: 12", 18", 24", 36", 48"; about 3" (almost 4.5" for the wider stuff!) is eaten up by looping back for the clasp and looping through the hardware-- more eaten with increasing hardware). Available in 1" and 2" widths. For the 1" version, you could use swivel strap-snaps substituted for any of the D-rings.
